Will Roadmap Committee succeed in rescuing Libya’s political process?

Episode 33 of Al-Ad Al-Aksi (The Countdown) Program discussed the work file of the Roadmap Committee, which was formed by Parliament after the failure to hold the elections on time, with guests of the episode, Zaid Al-Khatabi, Islam Hajji, and Mohammed Mariel.

On this, Zaid Al-Khattabi said that the committee will cause more prolongation and will contribute to emptying the demands of the Libyan people from their content, pointing out that there is no real political will for change from the current political parties.

Al-Khattabi added that the establishment of a transitional Senate or a transitional judicial council that leads to elections is the best solution, because the tools that created failure in the past cannot succeed today.

Islam Hajji stressed that the Roadmap Committee will not succeed in setting a date for the elections, but rather will conclude deals that serve the existing political bodies, adding that the goal of the roadmap is to prolong the current political impasse, hence; prolong the tenure of current office holders.

Mohammed Meriel considered that the parliament is reduced to the person of Aqila Saleh, and that the members of the parliament do not have any influence. He stressed that the Roadmap Committee will express one point of view, which is Aqila Saleh’s point of view.

Meriel concluded by saying that the success of the road map requires the participation of all parties in the committee, adding that the constitutional project is clear and cannot be amended unless it is rejected by the people.
