Williams reviews support for Libya’s disarmament committee

The UN Adviser to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said that she met Tuesday with the “410” committee for the demobilization and reintegration of armed formations/support forces, at the Abu Sitta Naval Base in Tripoli.

Williams said she had heard from the head of the committee, Major General Mahmoud bin Yazeh, a briefing about the committee’s work and plans to reintegrate the armed formations/support forces, on an individual basis and throughout the Libyan territory, according to her official account on Twitter.

Ben Yazeh stressed to Williams that Libya is able to integrate all individuals within the framework of the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration program, yet he said that this requires stability and an end to foreign interference.

The meeting also discussed ways in which the United Nations can support the work of the Disarmament Committee, including, sharing experiences with other countries.
