Controversy between Army and Government over participation in Gatroun military operation

The commander of the Sabha military region, Major General Fawzi Al-Mansoori, denied the validity of what he described as the allegations of the unity government about the participation of its forces in the recent operation that targeted ISIS in the south of the country, a position shared by the Joint Military Committee “5 + 5” of the National Army, confirming the incorrectness of what Dabaiba said about the participation of any force from the Ministry of Interior in these calshes.

The Commander of Moral Guidance, Major General Khaled al-Mahjoub Tarhum, Prime Minister of the Unity Government, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, criticized the affiliates of a party that had nothing to do with the battles in the south and did not participate in them, adding that the government had not yet provided anything in order to support the army to secure the south and the borders.

Meanwhile, Special Forces spokesman Milad Al-Zawi said that 4 soldiers from the 128th Brigade had fallen in the recent confrontations, revealing the participation of units from the 128th Brigade with 3 fighting companies and Major General Tariq bin Ziyad through the 10th Fighter Company and the 73rd Brigade.

Dabaiba had praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the forces supporting it against the backdrop of the events in the south against ISIS, pledging that Libya would not be a hub for extremist organizations and criminal gangs, as well as working hard to defeat and defeat them, while Deputy Prime Minister Hussein al-Qatrani praised the efforts of Military personnel affiliated with the armed and interior forces and the force supporting them, calling for solidarity and renounce differences for the sake of Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For its part, the Ministry of Interior stated that the assigned security patrols killed 4 ISIS members in addition to destroying their vehicles, noting that it will not tolerate under any circumstances in dealing firmly and severely with those who target the security and stability of the country, according to its description.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Al-Manqoush, said that she supports efforts of the war against terrorism, with sympathy for the nation’s martyrs who repelled the terrorist attack.

The Gatroun Security Directorate quoted the National Army Operations Room as saying that the military operations had been partially completed, noting that all fighters had returned from the battlefield, with some units remaining to finish the final combing operations, pointing out that extensive combing operations are currently taking place to pursue the fugitive remnants with the widespread deployment of the army and its supporting forces.

It is worth noting that the recent calshes near Gatroun, which erupted last Wednesday at a site known as Jabal Asida; as a result, 19 ISIS militants were killed, 4 of whom blew themselves up.
