Williams urges Libyan House of Representatives to set final date for elections

The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya, Stephanie Williams, said that some members of the Security Council have threatened to use sanctions against the obstructionists in Libya.

In an interview with the American Al-Hurra TV channel, Williams added that the entire political class in Libya had been involved in the obstruction process, pointing out that “the House of Representatives must set a final date for the elections.”

Williams said on Twitter that the speed with which political actors and those who have power on the ground turn from being constructive elements to being obstructive is remarkable when they feel that their personal interests or the interests of their “expired” institutions are threatened, stressing the necessity for maintaining a peaceful approach in resolving political differences instead of using force.
