West-based military forces reject replacing current Libyan government

The “military forces in the western region” described the attempts to change the current government as futile and said they are aimed at extending the mandate of the bodies whose legitimacy expired and which are prolonging the crisis.

In a statement, the military forces refused to go on a unilateral path, demanding that local and international parties give priority to setting a timetable with dates for the completion of the three tracks: the constitutional track, the national reconciliation track, and the unification track of the military institution.

The statement added that the failure in the completion of the electoral process is linked to the failure in these tracks, criticizing the lack of a clear vision for the solution that was limited to changing or modifying the executive authority without paying attention to the cause of the problem.
