Oun: Europe’s gas needs exceed capacity of Libyan production

Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Oun said that the gas crisis in Europe exceeds Libya’s production capacities, noting that Tripoli is unable to export gas to European countries, even if it increases the current production rates.

He added that the quantities of gas that were exported through the Green Stream company line to Italy and from there to the rest of the European countries are currently allocated for the consumption of power stations in Libya, according to Russia Today.

It is worth noting that the developments taking place on the border between Russia and Ukraine; is raising European fears that Moscow will cut off gas supplies to Europe, which mainly pass through Ukraine, if the situation escalates into an armed conflict.
