Erdogan voices reservations about forming a new Libyan government

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his reservations about the formation of a new government in Libya, when he spoke to reporters on his return from a visit to the UAE.

Erdogan added that the approach to forming an interim government for a period of one year and a half is an inappropriate approach for Libya, stressing the need to make a real choice so that Libya can take a long-term step with a strong management team at this point. He expressed his hope to reach a good result in Libya as soon as possible.

Erdogan’s statement is considered the first official position of the Turkish presidency towards the latest developments in Libya, after the House of Representatives voted to nominate Fathi Bashagha as president in charge of forming a new government in Libya.
