Ghassan Salame reminds Putin of his previous stances on Iraq and Libya

The former United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, reminded Russian President Vladimir Putin of his previous positions, in which he opposed the US invasion of Iraq, and criticized NATO’s intervention in Libya.

Salame added that the man behind these positions is Putin, and he urged him to honor his previous stances to preserve the independence of countries and the sanctity of their territories, adding that he is now in another position due to the different times.

Salame believed that Putin could have reduced the use of force instead of aggravating it, considering that what he did was choosing to imitate his opponents rather than deter them.

It is worth noting that Ghassan Salame served as the UN envoy to Libya from June 2017 until March 2020.
