Source to 218News: Upcoming meeting in Tunisia for CBL governor Al-Kabir, his deputy Al-Hibri

An official source in the Central Bank of Libya revealed, in an exclusive statement to 218News, about an upcoming meeting between the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Siddiq Al-Kabir, and his deputy, Ali Al-Hibri, in Tunisia, next week, at the invitation of the financial audit firm Deloitte.

The same source added that the meeting will discuss the agenda of the technical committees concerned with unifying the work of the Central Bank in Benghazi and Tripoli, in preparation for the remaining executive procedures to complete the unification procedures.

Al-Kabir, and his deputy, Al-Hibri, signed last January an agreement to obtain consulting services provided by Deloitte to support the implementation of the agreed-upon reunification, which will result in an advanced operating model for the local banking sector.

The Central Bank’s board of directors has been divided since 2014, following a political crisis that swept the country, resulting in political, economic, financial and monetary institutions in the eastern region, which were managed by the interim government headed by Abdullah al-Thani at that time.
