Libya, Italy agree to activate customs agreement

The Libyan and Italian sides agreed on practical mechanisms to start activating the customs agreement signed between the Libyan Customs Authority and the Italian Customs Agency.

This came on the sidelines of the visit of the Head of the Libyan Customs Authority, Brigadier Suleiman Belaid and his accompanying delegation to Italy, under the auspices of the European Union Mission in Libya, to discuss the activation of the agreements concluded between the two countries and the strengthening of joint customs work within the framework of the plan developed by the Libyan Customs Authority to raise the efficiency of the authority and its work systems, according to the statement of the Libyan embassy in Rome.

The two parties signed the activation of the agreement in the presence of the Libyan ambassador to Rome Omar Al-Tarhouni and members of the Libyan Foreign Ministry accompanying the delegation, and on the Italian side, the Head of the Italian Customs Agency, Marcello Menina, and the assistant head of the agency for the Maghreb and North Africa, as well as the ambassador of the EUBAM mission to Libya.
