PM at Gaddafi’s regime Abuzed Dorda died at age of 77

Abuzed Omar Dorda, the former Libyan intelligence chief and security official died last evening at the age of 77.

Dorda held several positions during the era of the former regime, most notably Libya’s delegate to the United Nations, Secretary of the General People’s Committee, in addition to Head of the external security apparatus of the Libyan intelligence.

Dorda was arrested on September 11, 2011, and sentenced to death in 2015 along with other officials for the bloody repression of demonstrators during the February 2011 revolution, in a trial that drew human rights and international criticism, before he was released in February 2019 for health reasons, amid circulating news that he had left Libya for treatment before returning to it later.
