Williams invites Libyan parties for a meeting in Tunisia to go over election laws

The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya, Stephanie Williams, called for a meeting in Tunisia, next Thursday.

According to an exclusive source for “218News”, Williams called for this meeting in order to review the electoral laws. Representatives of the High National Elections Commission and the National Planning Council, as well as a number of experts in this regard, are scheduled to attend.

Williams called, in early March, for the presidency of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to nominate six representatives each in order to form a joint committee dedicated to laying down a consensual constitutional basis.

During the period following her initiative, Williams held several discussions with a number of officials in Libya, led by the House of Representatives, the Presidential Council and the judiciary, as well as the Constitution Drafting Assembly.
