Algeria keen on holding elections in Libya before end of 2022

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed his country’s keenness to see Libya hold fair elections, considering it an important step to resolve the crisis in Libya, in addition to stressing the need for all foreign forces to leave the country  and not to influence the efforts of Libyans through external interference.

Algeria wants to hold general elections in Libya before the end of the year, Tebboune said during his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs  of the unity government Najla Al-Mangoush in Algeria; stressing the importance of ending political differences among the conflicting parties for the stability of Libya and the region.

Al-Mangoush indicated that she discussed with President Tebboune how to deal with the crisis in Libya with patience and work with Algerian officials to crystallize a solution, pointing out that the Algerian president unconditionally supports the unity government in its endeavors to hold parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible, according to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.
