HoR Speaker forms 12-member committee to amend constitution draft

Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh issued a decision naming a 12-member dialogue committee, without appointing a chair, to review the articles and controversial points in the draft constitution submitted by the Constitution Drafting Assembly and make the necessary amendments to it.

The decision was issued April 05 and obligated the formed committee to abide by the 12th constitutional amendment approved by the House of Representatives in agreement with the High Council of State, and to observe the dates specified in this amendment to accomplish its tasks.

The decision prohibited the committee from arranging any obligation outside its mission specified exclusively in the resolution, with obligating it to present the results of its work to the Council in the event of disagreement in form or purpose with the provisions of the constitutional amendment 12.

It is noteworthy that the High Council of State previously formed a 12-member committee to participate in the Libyan consultations supervised by the UN mission, which aim to agree on the constitutional basis and amend electoral laws.
