Reporters without Borders urges for releasing 218TV correspondent Ali Al-Rifawi

Reporters Without Borders has demanded the immediate release of Ali Al-Rifawi, a reporter for 218 TV Channel in Sirte, who has been detained since March 26.

In a tweet on its official page, the organization indicated the responsibility of the Internal Security Agency for the kidnapping of Al-Rifawi, reminding at the same time of the difficult conditions that journalists go through inside Libya.

The management of 218TV channels had previously issued a press release regarding the arrest of Al-Rifawi, in which it held the Internal Security Agency in Sirte responsible for the safety of its reporter, and demanded his immediate release, calling on all human rights organizations, whether local, Arab or international, to coordinate and work to release him to protect him from such repressive practices which aim to silence voices  and restrict freedoms.

It is noteworthy that a security force affiliated with the Internal Security Agency, Sirte branch, took Al-Rifawi into custody on 26 March, and no details of his fate have been known since that date.
