US advises its citizens not to travel to Libya for security reasons

The US State Department has advised its citizens to avoid travel to several countries, including Libya, for security reasons.

The US State Department announced, in a press statement, that it had updated travel advice for about ten different countries, and ranked Libya at the fourth level of countries at risk, noting that crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping and armed conflict in Libya are among the main reasons for avoiding travel to the North African nation.

The US State Department spokesman, Ned Price, had expressed earlier his concern about reports of armed clashes in Libya after the Libyan Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha’s attempt to enter Tripoli, urging armed groups to refrain from using violence.
