Will removing Bashagha and Dbeibah from Libya’s political scene solve the crisis?

“Al-Araby Al-Jadeed” website revealed diplomatic sources as saying that there is a tendency to solve the crisis in Libya, which requires understandings that keep away the presence of the heads of the unity government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba and the Libyan government, Fathi Bashagha, especially with the conviction of the international and regional actors on the Libyan scene that those officials are now a burden.

The sources added that Dabaiba and Bashagha became an obstacle in the way of a political solution, especially after their expansion in fueling polarization and reliance on undisciplined armed groups, and the recent armed clashes in Tripoli reinforced the idea of searching for an alternative that is acceptable to stakeholders in Libya.

The website indicated that Turkey does not absolutely support the head of the unity government, but rather its goal is to preserve its interests, amid news that Dabaiba has expressed the possibility of handing over power to the head of a new government provided that it’s not Bashagha and that he participates in the cabinet selection, which was considered a remarkable development in the position of Dabaiba, that may be caused by international pressure on him. This; however, was denied by the spokesman for the unity government, Muhammad Hammouda, as he indicated that this proposal did not exist hadn’t been presented to Dabaiba.
