Police urges Libyans to stand against drugs

The Interior Ministry warned on Monday against the dangers of drugs, urging the Libyan society to stand united against this “ghost” that haunts young people in particular.

In a statement, the ministry called on parents and older people to support the government in its fight against drugs that threatens people’s lives and the future of the country.

Earlier this year, the customs authority in Misurata seized more than eight million narcotic pills before being smuggled into Libya, according to a statement by Misurata Automated Inspection Unit.

The authority explained via its Facebook page that competent authorities in the port of Misurata monitored a suspicious container coming from India on Sunday.

There were around eight million drug pills in the container along with Indian-made juices used as camouflage.
