IS carries out second attack on Tazribu

The Islamic State group (IS) attacked on Monday Al-Maabous neighborhood in western Tazirbu, Libya, which is the second attack IS has launched on the town in a week.

The IS exploited the withdrawal of security forces after securing the town and attacked it, sources told 218news.

Spokesman of Sibal al-Salam Battalion of the Libyan National Army (LNA) said that the army will return to the town to secure it.

The militants of IS attacked on Friday a security directorate in the southeastern Libyan town Tazirbu, killing nine security service members, injuring 10 and kidnapping a number of residents.

The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Libya denounced the terrorist attack, saying IS abducted some residents including some of the town’s local officials.

Division and procrastination in implementing national reconciliation under Skhirat agreement should end so as to combat terrorist attacks in Libya and achieve security, the organization said.

It further explained that IS expands in southern and central Libya where there is lack of security in many places, referring to the IS attack on Waddan town in Libya’s central desert in early June 2017.
