Mismari links attack on LNA 10th Brigade to army’s victory over militants in Saddah

The attack on the headquarters of the 10th Brigade of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Traghan, western Libya, came a few days after Libyan Armed Forces attacked the militant groups in Al-Saddada, northwestern Libya, said LNA Spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari.

In a Friday statement, Mismari said the army has achieved great victories at al-Saddada region over the militants, who were preparing to launch an attack on the oil crescent region.

On Dec. 20, LNA General Commander Khalifa al-Obeidi declared that the Libyan Armed Forces attacked some militants, suspected to be affiliated to militia leader Ibrahim Jadhran, at Sadadah Fort in northwestern Libya.

In June 2018, forces led by Jadhran violently attacked and seized control of the Libyan oil ports Ras Lanuf and al-Sidra.

To combat terrorism and protect Libyan cities, Mismari called in his speech on all policemen and the military to fully prepare their units by dedicating five percent of their forces to the cause.

He added that an investigation should be carried out to reveal the reasons behind the lack of security at the LNA 10th Brigade in Taghran.

At least one was killed and 12 others injured in the attack by Chadian militants on the 10th Brigade of the LNA on Thursday.

The clashes broke out in the early hours of that morning, as the militants stormed the brigade’s headquarters in armored vehicles and opened fire at the security forces deployed.

The militants controlled the headquarters for three hours before the army regained control and expelled them.

According to 218 news correspondent, the wounded were transferred to the General Hospital of Traghan for medical treatment, while two of them were admitted in the intensive care unit.
