Maximum age of imported cars expected to be set at 10 yrs

Setting an age limit of 10 years on imported cars is being studied by the Ministry of the Economy, according to a Tuesday statement.

Minister of Economy Ali al-Issawi, Minister of Finance Faraj Boumtari and Director General of the Customs Department in Tripoli Tarek al-Faki discusses the proposal in a Tuesday meeting.

The meeting developed several plans and measures to prevent smuggling of scraps and the entry of goods supplied through land ports as well as put an end to trademark counterfeiting.

Issawi discussed the possible ways to establish an office specialized for trademarks entering Libya under the umbrella of the Customs Department.

Meanwhile, the meeting concluded with forming a committee of all the concerned parties to follow up implementing these proposals.
