Libya’s anti-corruption org. demands lifting Mishri’s immunity

The Libyan Administrative Control Authority (ACA) demanded on Monday that the immunity of President of the High Council of State Khalid al-Mishri be lifted pending an ongoing corruption investigation that goes back to 2017.

Unprecedentedly in Libya, ACA sent a letter to the rapporteur of the Supreme Council of State, explaining that this request relates to investigations in case No. 10 of 2017 concerning financial and administrative irregularities allegedly committed by Mishri when he was the chairman of the Finance Committee of the General National Congress.

According to media reports claims, Mishri is facing accusations of allocating and paying amounts of money from the Libyan state budget to armed groups in violation of the financial law of Libya.

ACA practices administrative control over executive bodies to monitor their performance and detect corruption. It is authorized to punish officials who violate the law.
