Total lunar eclipse witnessed in Libya

A total lunar eclipse occurred Monday in Libyan skies, according to the Libyan Centre for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (LCRSSS).

The LCRSSS said the phenomenon started at 6:41 a.m. and ended at 7:43 a.m. The eclipse reached its peak at 7:12 a.m.

The total lunar eclipse was viewed in North and South America, Europe and western Africa. Central and eastern Africa and Asia saw a partial eclipse of the moon.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the entire moon passes through the Earth’s shadow when it is between the moon and the sun.

A blood moon is a one that takes on a red or orange tint as it moves into the earth’s shadow.
