Sabha’s Tamanhint Airport resumes domestic flights

Sabha’s Tamanhint Airport has been ready to resume domestic flights since 17 February, according to a Wednesday statement by the airport.

The flights were resumed per the orders of Commander of Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar after military operations have largely gotten rid of armed groups in Sabha. The airport will be supervised by Sabha’s military region officials.

In a Wednesday statement, Commander of Sabha’s military region, Mabrouk al-Ghazawi, said Sabha is now secure and stable, and citizens will “no longer” suffer from looting, killing and kidnapping by armed groups, who had been controlling the city.

Earlier this month, the LNA banned all flights in southern Libya without its authorization as part of the operation, which began on 14 January.

Before Tamanhint Airport resumed domestic travel, citizens were forced to take roads during the military operation, putting their lives at risk.
