Central Bank of Libya to cash out $500 family dollar grant Sunday

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) will cash out the family dollar grant, which is worth $500 per person, starting from Sunday, according to a Wednesday statement.

The bank had delayed selling this grant to families due to fake national identity numbers it discovered in the past few days, the statement said.

Sadiq al-Kabir, the governor of CBL, claimed earlier that there are “many fake national identity numbers.”

He ordered delaying the 2019 family dollar grant, citing “huge numbers” of fake IDs in Libya benefiting therefrom.

On the other hand, the Libyan Civil Registry Authority issued a Sunday statement dismissing the claims, and saying the allegations aim to “increase tension and division.”

It launched an investigation and demanded that those with evidence of fraud present it to the competent authorities.
