GNA launches ‘Volcano of Rage’ operation to end Haftar’s progress in western Libya

The Government of the National Accord (GNA) launched Sunday an operation dubbed the “Volcano of Rage” to stand against the progress of the Libyan National Army (LNA) towards Tripoli, spokesperson for the GNA forces Colonel Mohamed Kanouno announced.

In a press conference, Kanouno said after the LNA advanced to the capital, head of the Presidency Council Faiez Sarraj enhanced Tripoli’s military readiness to fight the eastern army.

Sarraj also regained control over Bridge 27, western Tripoli, Tripoli Airport and Wadi el-Rabei.

Western Libyan has been rocked with clashes between the forces in the east and the west following the LNA’s move toward Tripoli to “expel terrorism and build state institutions.”
