Libyan teams exit African Volleyball Championship after good run

Libyan sides at the ongoing Men’s Africa Volleyball Club Championships bid farewell to the competition after losing in the semi-finals on Monday, albeit their overall performance was applauded by their fans.

The 2013 bronze medalists Ahli Tripoli lost 3-0 to Egypt’s Smouha, while Al-Swehly’s remarkable run ended on the hands of Egypt’s Al-Ahly after a tight game that ended 3-1.

The 38th edition of the African Volleyball Club Championship witnessed the participation of four Libyan teams: Al-Swehly, Ahli Tripoli, Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati, and Asaria. They all, except Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati, managed to qualify to the quarter-finals, overcoming strong opponents from different countries.

The final and third place games will be played on Wednesday at Al-Ahly Club in Cairo.
