Violent clashes between LNA, GNA at Aziziyah

Violent clashes erupted Tuesday between the Libyan National Army (LNA) and forces loyal to the Government of the National Accord (GNA) in Aziziyah area near the capital.

At Zahra bridge, clashes with heavy weapons also broke out the two warring forces.

The conflict between head of the GNA, Faiez al-Sarraj, and General Commander of LNA, Khalifa Haftar, broke out two weeks ago.

As part of Tuesday’s developments in the Libyan situation, military aircrafts allegedly affiliated with the GNA, attacked Houn town, an oasis town in the northern Fezzan region of southwest Libya, and showered it with bombs.

The bombing took place at the early hours of Tuesday. No causalities have been reported.

The deteriorating situation in the western region has forced the United Nations to postpone the National Forum, which supposedly aimed to pave the way for the elections and unify state institutions.
