Tamanhint Airbase attack linked with GNA: Mismari

Spokesperson for the Libyan National Army (LNA) Ahmed al-Mismari affirmed that the armed group which attacked Tamanhint Airbase on Thursday was affiliated with Government of National Accord (GNA).

During a Friday press conference, Mismari noted that LNA troops chased the armed group for a long distance. He affirmed that the militants failed to break into the airbase.

The attack, however, resulted in the killing of 15 people affiliated with GNA, according to Mismari.

LNA spokesperson claimed that numbers of armed groups are fighting for GNA against the National Army.

On Thursday, an armed group was seen attacking Tamanhint Airbase, 4 kilometres southeast of Sabha.

Clashes erupted between the armed group and security forces affiliated with the Interim Government’s Interior Ministry. Four officials working for the airbase were reported to be dead, several others were injured.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced Thursday that around 205 people have been killed, including 18 civilians, and 913 others have been wounded two weeks since the beginning of the war in Tripoli.
