Libya wins 9 medals in 29th African Weightlifting Championships

Another achievement made by Libyan athletes as male weightlifters won nine medals at the 2019 Africa Weightlifting Championships. The tournament was hosted by Cairo on April 23-30.

Abdullah Al-Akouri won three silver medals in 108 kg men’s competitions, after lifting 108 kg in snatch and 136 kg in clean.

Ihsan Shalabi won three bronze medals in 67 kg men’s competitions, after lifting 126 kg in snatch and 155 kg in clean, achieving total of 281 kg.

Ahmed Abuzriba got a bronze medal in clean after lifting 174 kg. Maraj Tubal also won bronze after lifting 141 kg in snatch and total 307 kg.

Abdullah Bousheehah came in the second place in in 61 kg men’s competition, after lifting 108 kg in snatch and 136 kg in clean with total 244 kg.

The tournament is one of the competitions qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
