Muslim Brotherhood has ‘psychological warfare’ Committees: Operation Karama

General Khaled Mahjoub, spokesperson for Operation Karama of the Libyan National Army (LNA), accused the Muslim Brotherhood of spending millions of dinars on media to use it as part of its war against the army.

In an audio recording published by Karama Media Center Tuesday, Mahjoub said there are “special committees” dedicated to the psychological warfare in Libya, supported with huge sums.

Mahjoub also accused the Government of National Accord of being behind the water crises that hit Tripoli recently. He said the GNA tried to “incite” the international community against the LNA during the UN Security Council sessions over the situation in Libya and claimed the army targets civilians.

Last week, Libya faced a crises over the disruption of water supply to Tripoli after an armed group stormed a drinking water station on the Great Man-Made River, forcing employees to shut down water pipes connected to underground wells. These pipes supply Tripoli and other coastal areas with their clean water.

However, two days later, the distribution agency announced that water supply to Tripoli resumed, without elaborating.

At time, GNA accused the armed group of seeking to “lock the water from the capital to lower the morale of its inhabitants”

The Libyan National Army launched a campaign to seize Tripoli on April 4, days before a UN-backed national conference bringing together Libyan factions to reach a roadmap to stability. Since then, human and infrastructure losses have fallen and ceasefires have been rejected by the LNA and the Government of National Accord.
