Libyan Red Crescent distributes supplies in detention centers ahead of Eid al-Fitr

The Libyan Red Crescent distributed Saturday clothes and food supplies to refugees in Tripoli’s detention centres ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

The Libyan Red Crescent also helps in evacuating civilians from the battlefields in Tripoli and providing shelter to the displaced from the fighting zones near the capital.

Since the beginning of Tripoli’s war between the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of National Accord (GNA) on April 4, some 83,000 Libyans have been forced to flee their homes.

Further, a total of 562 people have been killed, 3,417 injured.

In mid-May, the U.N. Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) also expressed concern over the status of 3,300 refugees and migrants who have been held in detention centres across Libya, particularly in the west.
