Libyans close road between Ras Agadir, Abu Kammash to protest power cuts

Libyan youth closed Wednesday the road between Ras Agadir and Abu Kammash, areas located in the southern region, protesting the 20-hour power cut.

One of the residents in the southern region said they have suffered from power cuts, which sometimes exceed 20 hours, because it affected their quality of life and spoiled their food.

On Saturday, the Fezzan Anger Movement threatened to close el-Sharara and Feel oilfields in the southern region to pressure the government into meeting the area’s basic needs.

The movement demanded the government to provide cash, fuel, and job opportunities for the youth, and to establish development projects and resolve the crisis of electricity.

In the recent period, activists have called for the return of the activities of Fezzan Anger Movement due to the bad living conditions in the region and the rolling power cut.

On Thursday night, the streets of Tripoli and southern cities witnessed protests of angry citizens because of the long power cuts that lasted 18 hours. Social media platforms were also full of anger, where Libyan users accused officials at the Government of National Accord (GNA) because of the failure to solve the electricity crisis for years.
