FDCC head released per Libya’s attorney General demand

The Food and Drug Control Center (FDCC) Head in Tripoli Mohamed al-Mashay was released on Sunday per Libya’s attorney General demand after being abducted since last Wednesday.

At the beginning, Mashay was announced to be abducted by unidentified militants; however later media reports revealed that he was  arrested to be questioned on number of charges against him.

According to source who spoke to 218News; Mashay health condition was not clear.

Last Wednesday, Mohamed was reported to be shot and abducted by unidentified militants.

FDDC condemned the incident and called on the Government of National Accord (GNA) to shoulder their responsibilities for saving the center’s head and punishing the perpetrators.

FDCC staff also called on human rights organizations and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to intervene immediately to release him.

The center’s staff in a Facebook statement praised the FDCC head’s efforts since taking over his position to protect citizens through strict and continuous control of food and medicine in the local market.

Another member of FDCC board was announced to be abducted on Sunday, as his currant location still unknown.
