LNA about to ‘raise banner of victory’ in Tripoli: Haftar

The Libyan National Army (LNA) and Libyan people are about to “raise the banner of victory” in Tripoli, and the Libyan capital will restore its position as the city of peace without blackmail or threat, General Commander of the LNA Khalifa Haftar said Wednesday.

“The banner of victory will soon rise in our capital … We assure you that the victory date is approaching its target for which the Libyans offered convoys of both martyrs and wounded,” added Haftar in a video speech broadcast on television.

He stressed that the eastern army seeks to liberate the entire country from the armed groups and ensure a decent life for Libyans to be able to draw its future and enjoy Libya’s wealth.

The LNA General Commander urged soldiers to prepare for making progress toward the capital and ensure Tripoli residents’ safety.

“Our aim is to complete the liberation of Libya from the east to the west and from the south to the north so that there will not be a single grain of dust in which terrorism dares to desecrate,” he continued.

The statement was released a few days after the LNA had made advances toward the capital as the army carried out major attacks on the locations of the Government of National Accord (GNA) near Tripoli.

The army has achieved remarkable results in its fighting in the war on the outskirts of Tripoli in al-Khala and Wadi al-Rabia.
