LNA strikes Misurata’s Faculty of Aviation, destroys military aircraft

The Libyan National Army (LNA)’s Air Force has lunched airstrikes targeting the Faculty of Civil Aviation of Misurata northwestern Libya, late on Monday.

 LNA said that the strikes aimed at destroying Ilyushin-76 military aircraft loaded with shipment of ammunition and missiles to be used by Turkish drones inside Libya.

The Anti-aircraft warfare affiliated with Misurata’s Faculty of Civil Aviation tried to respond to the air attacks; however, no injuries or damages were reported.

The strikes were reported to last for nearly two hours during the late hours of Monday. Ambulance vehicles were seen by eye witnesses rushing to the Faculty’s location.

Last week, LNA carried out eight airstrikes on various locations of the Government of the National Accord (GNA) in Misurata, including the Faculty of Civil Aviation of Misurata, according to LNA’s al-Watiya airbase.

Watiya said the air strikes also targeted the operating room and the air defense system in Misurata.

LNA Karama Operation Room Khaled al-Mahjoub said on Saturday that the army is very near of announcing achieving its current goals in Libya including liberating the capital from terrorism.

Mahjoub said in statements to al Ethad newspaper that LNA military units are engaging in violent clashes in several areas along Tripoli, and that they are trying to trap the militant forces in specific spots to control them and end the battle.
