Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport targeted as hajis’ flight was landing

Suspension of flights at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport continues after it has been targeted again today with artillery shelling from unknown location.

The shelling coincided Saturday with the arrival of a Buraq Air flight from Istanbul Airport and Libyan Airlines flight of 265 hajis coming from Saudi Arabia.

This development comes hours after the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) has arrested a fighter from Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade “Abdelrahman Mohammed Abdo – A.K.A. Al-Zigra” at Mitiga Airport as he was traveling to Tunis, according to reliable sources.

The sources added that Al-Zigra is accused of criminal cases and is wanted by authorities in Tripoli, adding that his arrest was aimed to place him under investigation for crimes that include killing security personnel.

Meanwhile, the media office of the Karama Operations Room said the Air Force had carried out airstrikes on armed groups affiliated with the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Al-Aziziya as the Libyan National Army’s artillery shelling was targeting armed groups at Khallatat Street.

The Libyan National Army’s airstrikes targeted Ghout Al-Reeh area near Gharyan and Kimiaa Camp in Tajoura.

Local sources reported that two shells fell in Zanata area near Natifa Mosque as the damage was seen in photos for a shop in the area.
