The Libyan Passports, Citizenship and Foreign Affairs Authority has announced ‘saving’ thr passports’ electronic system from a collapse that could have led to a total loss of the database, saying work is underway to update and fix the system, which will need time and thus the system should not be visited massively in the meantime.

A statement by the authority explaind the mistakes that happened in the past and said they were ‘internal errors’ and the authority takes responsibility for them as emergency and patient cases should not be affected by such a malfunction.

“We are committed to issuing passports to emergency cases at our offices.” The authority remarked.

The statement stressed that the workers of the authority should abide by the laws and say away from nepotism and providing favors, asking them to do their job properly.

It also requested that the workers in all branches to make lists and send them via WhatsApp after the database is saved well so that the emergency cases can receive their passports as things need some time to return to normal.

The Passports, Citizenship and Foreign Affairs Authority in eastern Libya announced last July halting reception passports’ application forms.

Its media office said at the time that the reason for the halt was due to the malfunctions and technical faults of the photographs’ system and the shortage of passport booklets at the printing department.
