G7 calls for international conference on Libya

The Group of Seven (G7) has called – in its final declaration after the summit held in Biarritz, France – for an international conference on Libya.

G7 said Monday that all regional and international stakeholders should be part of the proposed international conference.

The final declaration reaffirmed support for the efforts of the United Nations and its Support Mission in Libya headed by Ghassan Salame that aim to end the Libyan conflict.

Earlier, France’s embassy in Libya said on Twitter that the final declaration of G7 reiterated support for the truce by the UNSMIL that was recently announced in Libya.

The embassy added that the G7 declaration called for an international conference on Libya with local and international stakeholders taking part in it.
