Erdoğan sacks founding AK Party members, strengthens them politically

Turkey’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has sent the files of three prominent figures of the party to a discipline committee, which could soon be instructed to sack the three members who include the founding and vital member Ahmet Davutoğlu; the former Prime Minister of Turkey and the one seen as the maker of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s popularity, knowing that reports say Erdogan is behind the decision to send the members to a discipline committee.

The real fears of Erdoğan are that Ahmet Davutoğlu and other members who “jumped out of the Erdoğan ship” will form a new political party to compete the AK Party, which has been lately delivered a blow by the public during the recent municipal elections as the opposition won Istanbul with a margin of one million votes.

The role of the former vice prime minister of Turkey, Ali Babacan, who was also a former minister of economy and the founder of “Zero Problems Theory” that made Turkey progress regionally and internationally, was diminished by Erdoğan by his “negative intervention” in regional issues to have a bigger leadership role in the world.

Despite the fact that Babacan hasn’t formed any political party yet, conditions in Turkey point to an advanced level of “secret political communication” that could lead to forming a powerful political party that would compete against Erdoğan; a party that would include Ahmet Davutoğlu as well as the former Turkish President Abdullah Gül and the dismissed party members whom Erdoğan would sack through the discipline committee.

Many inside Turkey believe that Erdoğan has been wasting away the achievements of the AK Party by unstudied policies, while the AK Party’s circles are saying that Babacan and Davutoğlu won’t be able to agree on one political party and may form more than one, which would undermine their political strength.

Erdoğan is seen in Turkey by many as someone who has lost his “political compass” and is close to a big failure, hence; the AK Party’s members whom he is working on sacking will probably unite against him in the political arena. Many also say that Erdoğan has rushed himself as instead of harming his fellow party members by depriving them of political privilege, he has strengthened them politically and in a way, he united them against himself in what could be a fatal blow to him in any upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
