US exerting efforts to bring Turkey back into F-35 aircraft deal

The US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has said he is working on convincing the US Administration to bring Turkey back to the joint program of making the F-35 aircraft, which was scrapped by Washington last July after Ankara bought Russian S-400 defense system.

The remarks of Graham, who is close to US President Donald Trump, came in a video on Twitter after his meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

The Senator added that they both discussed as well a possible free trade agreement, reiterating that Turkey is a significant ally not just in regard of the situation in Syria but in the whole region.

Trump and Erdogan are set to meet in New York this week to further discuss those issues.
