US concerned about reinforcing financial transparency in Libya

The US ambassador to Libya Richard Norland met with the Minister-designate of Finance at the Government of National Accord (GNA) Faraj Bumatari last Saturday in Tunisia.

The two officials discussed the efforts aimed at reinforcing financial transparency in Libya and prioritizing improving financial conditions for Libyans, said the US embassy in Libya three days after the meeting’s convention.

The GNA Ministry of Finance started discussing 2020 budget four weeks ago and intensified meetings with concerned authorities for that end.

The Presidential Council agreed last March on beginning with the 2019 financial arrangements and paying off the general debt worth 46.9 billion dinars, besides paying other 5 billion dinars for development projects.
