US Africa Command airstrike kills 11 terrorists near Murzuq in Libya

US Africa Command’s has carried out again airstrikes on terrorists who are posing threats to Libya’s security, hitting ISIS militants with second strike in less than a week in coordination with th Government of National Accord.

AFRICOM said airstrike killed 11 terrorists from ISIS groups and was conducted to eliminate ISIS terrorists and deny them the ability to conduct attacks on the Libyan people killed, according to US Army Maj. Gen. William Gayler, director of operations, U.S. Africa Command.

“This effort demonstrates the resolve of the U.S. and our Libyan partners to deny safe havens to terrorists.” He added.

AFRICOM carried airstrikes agaisnt ISIS militants on September 20 in the vicinity of Murzuq, killing 8 militants, while 218News learned afterwards that the death toll increased to 10.

AFRICOM earlier expressed concern that the war that has been ongoing in Libya for eight years could provide oxygen to terrorists in the country.
