MoU signed to facilitate managing immigration flow between Libya and Niger

The European Union delegation to Libya said representatives of the Ministries of Labour from the State of Libya and the Republic of Niger negotiated and finalized a Memorandum of Intent regarding mechanisms to reap the benefits of labour immigration for their respective countries as well as migrants themselves.

“In a unique EU-funded event held in Tunis, our partner IOM Libya brought together 14 key regional and international partners to enhance international cooperation on labour mobility.” The delegation said on its Facebook page.

The EU delegation to Libya added that there are currently in Libya at least 650,000 immigrants out of whom 70% are workers.

“This represents a first step toward the establishment of bilateral agreements to facilitate procedures and implementation of immigrant labour regulation.” The delegation indicated.
