UN envoy hints at corruption as main obstacle to solutions in Libya

The UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame has returned to his Twitter account with new hints, referring to two countries that start with the letter (L) which he said are subject to the UN Secretary General’s tweet about what corruption and looting does to the countries that cannot build proper infrastructure to their peoples.

Salame retweeted Antonio Guterres’s tweet saying “I think of two countries that start with the letter ‘L’.”

The hint wasn’t that difficult in Salame’s tweet as many of his followers knew the first ‘L’ refers to Libya, where he is heading the UN Support Mission trying to resolve the political stalemate and the looting as well as corruption of some parties that are fighting for political and financial gains not for a better Libya.

If Libya was the first ‘L’, then the second would be Lebanon as its people have revolted against the political elite and their financial corruption, so Salame was saying corruption is hindering the development of both Libya and Lebanon.
