Libya, Greece coordinate to block sea routes of Turkish vessels heading to western Libya

The Chief of Naval Force of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Faraj Al-Mahdawi, has revealed that the Libyan Naval Force has signed an agreement with Greece to shut down the sea route that links Crete island and Libyan eastern water borders to prevent Turkish vessels from reaching Libyan waters.

Al-Mahdawi said their forces have been coordinating with Greek authorities about the movement of Turkish ships fo fear that they could be laden with weapons or terrorists.

He added that if their forces depicted Turkish ships trying to enter Libyan waters to reach western region’s ports ,especially Misrata, they will be targeted without hesitation.

“Libyan Naval Force troops have received the needed support by the LNA General Command such as ammunition, weapons and needed equipment to foil any Turkish threats.” Al-Mahdawi said.

He said Ankara could send terrorists to Libya to fight for GNA armed groups, adding that “Turkey hosts large numbers of ISIS fighters and sees Tripoli battle as a chance to get rid of them by sending them to fight for the militias to kill Libyans.”
