Turkish Vice President: We won’t prolong assessment of the needed support for Libya’s GNA

In a new signal for sending Turkish troops to Libya, the Vice President of Turkey Fuat Oktay said Ankara won’t prolong the assessment of the type of help to be provided to the Government of National Accord once it asked for it.

Oktay said Turkey will continue to secure its rights and those of the North Cyprus Republic in the eastern Mediterranean region, adding gas exploration activities will continue despite rejections of some countries.

Meanwhile, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the sanctions bill that was approved by the European Union against Ankara due to drilling and exploration activities was “worthless”.

After signing two MoUs with Libya’s GNA in maritime, security and military cooperation in last November, Turkey angered several countries, including Cyprus, which lodged a complaint at the International Criminal Court against Turkey to protect its maritime boundaries and rights in resources in the eastern Mediterranean region, especially the disputed zone with Ankara.
