Libyan HoR Speaker to his Cypriot counterpart: GNA lost legitimacy in Libya

The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aquila Saleh met with his counterpart of Cyprus, Demetris Syllouris, and agreed to form a contact committee between the two parties amid the ongoing developments in the region.

The agreement between the two Speakers came in a meeting on Saturday at the Cypriot HoR headquarters, according to the media adviser of the Libyan HoR Speaker.

Saleh urged the Cypriot Parliament to withdraw recognition from the Government of National Accord as it is illegitimate and has not received the confidence of the Libyan HoR, let alone violating the Libyan Political Agreement’s laws by signing military and maritime agreements with Turkey.

Saleh arrived on Friday in Cyprus upon a formal invitation from his Cypriot counterpart to discuss the controversial MoUs signed by the GNA with Turkey.

The media adviser of the HoR Speaker said the latter will stay for two days in Cyprus to discuss ways of returning stability to the Mediterranean region.
