Is Erdogan trying to drag neighboring countries into Libya’s conflict?

It’s nothing new that Libya’s crisis has become regional especially after the Turkish intervention and the efforts of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to bring to his side the countries neighboring Libya.

Lately, Algeria signaled that it was interested in the situation in Libya as the Algerian President allocated some of his oath speech to the Libyan people and the Libyan situation, calling on all parties to leave out their differences.

Erdogan seemed to like this Algerian stance as the Turkish Defense Ministry said Sunday that Turkish frigates docked at Algerian ports, which was denied by state media outlets without giving official details.

This, according to observers, has tempted Turkey to try and use the Algerian territory for the upcoming intervention in Libya.

The fears of such issue were backed by a visit by Erdogan to Tunisia last week, which led Tunisians to speak out against the use of their country for intervention in Libya, calling on the government to stay neutral regarding the Libyan conflict.

These indications show that Turkey’s movements toward Libya have sparked fears in the neighboring countries and the Mediterranean region.
