218 Channel’s poll: Field Marshal Haftar is Person of the Year, Bashagha comes second

At the end of 2019 with all what it had on all fields, Libyans celebrated the beginning of 2020 with hopes despite the fact that most of their worries have been transferred to the new year.

2019 had lots of events on political, economic and security levels and thus affected Libyans’ ambitions for peace and for an end of fighting to achieve stability and start building a new state of Libya.

For the second year in a row, 218 TV and 218News channels made polls on their social media pages under the title “The Person of the Year” in Libya.

The poll included this time six persons; the genral commander of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, former Education Minister of the Government of National Accord Othman Abdeljalil, Head of Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj, dismissed Mufti Al-Sadiq Al-Gharyani, Interior Minister-designate Fathi Bashagha and the Head of Administrative Control Authority of the House of Representatives Abdelsalam Al-Hassi.

Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar is the Person of the Year

Libyans responded actively with the poll on 218 TV and 218News on social media and the votes reached 16012 correct ones out of 24770 comments.

Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar received 11092 votes with a percentage of 69.27% of the votes and with a big difference margin from Fathi Bashagha who got 2037 votes – 12.72%. Abdeljalil received 1839 votes – 11.49% out of the entire votes.

Abdelsalam Al-Hassi came fourth with 377 votes – 2.35% and then Al-Sarraj came fifth with 334 votes – 2.086% and finally Al-Gharyani came sixth with 333 votes with 2.08%.
